Antique Brooch/Pendant With 14ct Gold And Diamond Lady Portrait
Undoubtedly every collector’s dream, this pictorial antique brooch is a rare and riveting piece of early 20th-century jewellery. Expertly crafted in textured 14ct yellow gold, this delightful work of wearable art features an articulated embossed portrait of a lady that seems enchanted by a group of tweeting birds sitting on branches. Her floating hair hints at the element of wind and is adorned by a sparkly old-mine-cut diamond on a floral hair accessory. The reverse is equipped with a pin clasp and hidden pendant loop – so double the fun! However, the most charming detail about this sweet brooch is the initials and date monogram on the back (CC to FG Oct 6 1903). Just imagine the journey of this beauty through the ages, originally gifted to an ‘FG’ more than 100 years ago! Dating from the heart of the Art Nouveau period, circa 1903, it features the movement’s signature traits, which revolved around nature (birds and flowers), soft curves with elegant lines, and the female form. An epitome of the style’s industrial disruption through romanticised depictions, this antique brooch is preserved in excellent condition and holds within it all the secrets this lady has witnessed through the centuries. A time-honoured heirloom and a wonderful conversation starter.
