Gold Platinum Flower Brooch/Fur Clip With Turquoise And Diamonds
This elegant and elaborate flower brooch is one great reason why we love everything mid-century! Depicting a blooming flower in Cartier-like craftsmanship, this floral masterpiece is artfully rendered in a spiralling openwork design of 18ct and 14ct yellow gold. The gorgeously articulated petals are hugged by shiny platinum strokes featuring over a carat of mixed-cut diamonds. The centre is crowned with a larger old European-cut diamond of excellent colour (F-G) surrounded by six turquoise cabochons for a touch of colour, and wiggles a bit, adding to the charm of this not-so-serious pin. A solid gold stem and openwork leaf complete this classic piece, while the back is fitted with both a locking clasp and double prongs, allowing for better attachment on a furry coat. This fun-to-wear versatile clip dates from the 1960s, a time when jewellery became more feminine, elegant, and precious in a sharp break from the stark styles of WWII. With the war over, this period saw a return to traditional fine jewellery materials like platinum and diamonds in whimsical nature-inspired designs, very much like this flower brooch. A true statement piece suitable for any occasion and, without a doubt, a collector's dream.
