Vintage 1970s Gold Bombé Dress Ring With Turquoise And Diamonds
One of the most popular gemstones of the 1970s – turquoise – makes a fabulous showing in this big, bold, and utterly beguiling dress ring. This eye-catching bauble is crafted in an 18ct gold bombé design, featuring an openwork flowerhead set with beaded detailing throughout. A round prong-set turquoise cabochon crowns the centre, embraced by eight brilliant-cut diamonds and similarly-cut turquoise stones mounted on a multi-furcated setting. The shank is composed of stacked ropes that gradually split towards the shoulders, adding a final touch of refinement to this alluring assemblage. The hallmarks on the inside indicate that this chic dinner ring is of British origin and, although unsigned, it is reputed to have been bought at Boucheron in London by the previous owner's late husband. It was sourced in excellent condition from a UK auction and dates from the 1970s when women loved to show off their large cocktail rings in both formal and informal settings, with yellow gold and bold gemstones being favoured. The perfect dress ring for adding a splash of colour to your next soiree outfit.
