Retro Tank Ruby And Diamond Ring In 18ct Gold Asymmetrical Design
Chic, unique, rare, and voluminous are just a handful of adjectives to aptly describe this fabulous ruby and diamond ring. Asymmetrically sculpted in sleek and shiny 18ct gold, this gorgeous tank rink embodies a signature Retro-era design while loosely resembling a belt buckle. Three square-cut synthetic rubies in transparent magenta-colour accent the centre, surrounded by almost half a carat of mixed-cut diamonds in various sizes. This collectable piece was sourced from a US vintage dealer and dates from the heart of the Retro period, circa the 1940s, when the tank ring was at its peak. The era’s emblematic trend takes its name from the tanks and buildings of the war years yet is inspired by the surrealism, fantasy, and cubism of the Retro Art movement. Fine jewellery of this time was mostly made from the short-in-supply gold while lab-grown gemstones replaced their hard-to-find precious counterparts. They were typically used in pavé and invisible settings to make the most of the tiny stones available, much like in this vintage synthetic ruby and diamond ring. A timelessly elegant jewel and a true family heirloom for passing down the generations.
