Victorian Gold Wedding Bangles Set With Owner’s Antique Portraits

Sale priceDhs. 7,750.00

A rare and enchanting pair of Victorian wedding bangles for the unconventional bride – or just because! These delicate hinged bracelets are beautifully hand fabricated in satiny 14ct gold and engraved with intricate strokes across the surface. The top half is embellished with a lavish floral motif in taille d'epargné, an enamelling technique that was very popular in the mid-1800s. They are each attached to a safety chain and engraved with the original owner's name "Augusta Thrasher" on the inside. Made for small wrists, this well-preserved antique set was sourced from Augusta’s family estate in the US and comes with two signed portraits of her – companions on its journey through the eras and living reminders of Augusta’s love story. These handcuff-like bracelets emerged in the late 19th century and often served as a symbol of engagement, sometimes even equipped with a lock and key. One would be locked on the lucky lady’s wrist upon betrothal and the second on her other wrist upon marriage. Not restricted to engaged ladies, these charming wedding bangles will add a dash of timeless chic to any ensemble. A wearable piece of history and true family heirloom to be passed down for generations.
